Paris Workshop | 1-2 september 2018

In this workshop we’ll spend two days together sketching and painting beautiful Paris. We’ll explore the city with an eye for capturing alluring sketches and paintings, and I will lead you through my process of telling a compelling story with a painting.

We will begin day One at 10am for coffee and introductions. I’ll share my personal theory on color, light, perspective, composition, and how to convey a mood with a painting.  We will do some simple warm-up exercises, before heading outside to sketch this beautiful city. We will work in watercolor sketchbooks or loose sheets, and the media will be pen and ink and watercolor. Lunch will be picnic style, after which we will move nearby to a second location. We’ll spend the afternoon applying what we’ve learned to create a piece to be proud of. Group size is limited, so there will be plenty of time for one-on-one instruction. After sharing our work and final words, our first day will end at 5pm.

Day Two will begin at 10am, and we’ll have a real chance to dive in deep, applying what we’ve learned about technique and composition to create beautiful pieces. We’ll explore different tricks you can apply to your sketches, and some new ways of seeing. Lunch will again be picnic style, after which we’ll have a full afternoon of painting together. Our second day will end at 5pm.

This workshop will be conducted in English. Je parle un peu le français, mais pas très bien. Mais je comprends le français, donc si vous avez des questions, ce n'est pas un problème en français. Je veux que tout le monde comprenne.

This workshop is suitable for all levels. We all have something to learn, and I look forward to working with each of you.

The price of the workshop is €160/person.
Price includes picnic lunch.

Not included: travel expenses, accommodation in Paris, art materials.
